ITS Australia is proud to announce the inaugural ITS Australia National Awards to its members and ITS industry.
These awards are for member organisations that have achieved with exceptional products or services that have furthered the development or deployment of a transport solution or innovation using Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the previous year.
A prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the overall winner of the National awards decided by the judging panel. The award will be presented by the major sponsor SINCLAIR KNIGHT MERZ.
All applications should fall under the following themes and will be judged based on the seven key criteria within those areas:
THEMES: SAFETY, MOBILITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
1. Innovative –an innovative development bringing together various initiatives or technologies, further developing ITS in Australia
2. Well developed – has passed the “bright idea” and prototype stage and showing proven benefits in the market place
3. Sustainable – durable and likely to have a lasting impact/benefit on ITS
4. Transferable – capable of being transferred to other locations/applications
5. Interoperable – showing (or be capable of) integration with other ITS developments
6. Impact – measurable efficiency and safety benefits to society above what is achievable without ITS
7. Environment – design which considers and/or has an effect on the environment
This award will be presented to an individual, organisation or road controlling authority that has benefited the Victorian community. The prize will be presented by The Victorian Minister for Roads and Ports The Hon, Tim Pallas.
The applicant will have achieved, or demonstrate a high potential to achieve the following innovation criteria in addition to the key seven themes above:
1. Long-term transport safety benefits for the Victorian community
2. A sound technical basis
3. Demonstrated improvement to the Victorian transport system through the application of ITS
4. Contributed towards the reduction of the environmental impact of transport
(VicRoads and the Victorian Department of Transport are excluded from consideration for this award)
The nominations will be judged by an eminent panel of ITS professionals chaired by ITS Australia President Dr Norman Pidgeon.
The winning entry will be announced at the ITS Australia Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation in Melbourne on 11th November 2010 at the RACV Club City.
