Australian Transport Research Forum
CALL FOR PAPERS – DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 5TH
ATRF call for papers
The organisers would like to thank those who have already submitted an abstract for the 2010 ATRF conference, and invite prospective authors who have not to take advantage of this extended deadline. Please note that no abstracts can be accepted after close of business on Friday 5th February.
The ATRF is recognised by both the public and private sectors as the main transport planning and policy forum in Australasia. The ATRF brings together policymakers, advisers, researchers and practitioners from transport disciplines to share and build upon the latest research and initiatives. It is hosted annually by Australian jurisdictions and New Zealand.
The 2010 forum will be hosted by the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics and the Australian Capital Territory Department of Territory and Municipal Services at the National Convention Centre in Canberra. Prospective contributors are now invited to put forward papers.
Abstracts of up to 200 words are requested by 5th February 2010. Papers may deal with any aspect of transport, including work in progress, and should be research-based. Relevant research papers which are directly related to the development of policies or strategies are especially encouraged.
Abstracts should include the following background material:
· main subject area and keywords
· name(s) and affiliations of author(s)
· a biography of the presenting author
Further:
· the title should aim to be precise so that it conveys a clear message
· abstracts should contain brief but complete statements of introduction/study
· abstracts must not contain graphs, diagrams or complex tables
· references must not be included
The Planning and Transport Research Centre (PaTReC) of the Western Australian universities provides an electronic repository of ATRF papers from the previous 32 events, which can be found at: http://www.patrec.org/atrf.aspx. Researchers considering submitting a paper may find it beneficial to consult this site for guidance.
Abstracts can only be submitted electronically. Abstracts, questions about abstract submission, or any other conference-related queries can be sent to ATRF2010@infrastructure.gov.au. Please note that all correspondence will be directed to the person submitting the abstract, unless requested otherwise.
Authors will be notified if their abstract has been accepted no later than Wednesday, 3rd March. Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to prepare the full paper and submit it by Friday, 28th May, at which time papers will be sent to referees.
Further information on ATRF 2010 is available at www.bitre.gov.au/ATRF2010.

What is 131940.qld.gov.au?
131940.qld.gov.au (131940) is a Queensland Government Traffic and Travel Information (TTI) website that has been redeveloped and provides a real-time source of information occurring on the Queensland road network. It has been designed to deliver free TTI to the general public to enhance their ability to make efficient use of the road network through informed travel choices.
The 131940 website is managed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Various department regions as well as traffic management centres including the Brisbane Metropolitan Transport Management Centre on behalf of the Brisbane City Councils, publish real time traffic and travel information on incidents, road closures, special events, load limits as well as static information on what’s happening around the state, mainly on state-controlled roads.
The website also offers over 70 live traffic cameras images covering state controlled roads across Queensland, refreshing every 60 seconds.
What is the vision for 131940.qld.gov.au?
The vision of the 131940 Traffic and Travel Information website is to be a single source of real time traffic and travel information for Queensland.
This will enable all road users to identify more effective routes, better predict delays to their journey, resulting in more informed use of the road network.
How will this vision be delivered?
This vision is now being realised and the department has successfully delivered Phase 1 of the 131940 Traffic and Travel Information website.
The redeveloped website was launched by the Minister for Main Roads, the Honourable, Craig Wallace on 20 July 2009. The redeveloped website provides a new look and feel with some improved usability and establishes the platform for future phases to be delivered.
Since the launch of the 131940 website in late July 2009, statistics have shown during the month of August 2009, the website has received almost 60,000 individual visits.
Current work
The next phase of the redevelopment of the 131940 TTI website will include the reporting of closures and reopening of roads (due to wet weather and flooding) directly into a map based product. This information will be made available to the public in real time and support the management and reporting of state-controlled roads that have been closed due to flooding and wet weather. This phase is due for completion in late 2009.
