AustRoads appoints Project Director to manage 5.9 Spectrum

At its November meeting the Austroads Board agreed that Austroads be proposed to ACMA as the spectrum management entity for Cooperative ITS applications. It was also agreed that this role be resourced by a full-time officer through the national office for the short term.

Following this decision and discussion with the Cooperative ITS steering committee, a position description for a Cooperative ITS Project Director was prepared. This was circulated to Austroads’ member organisations in December with a request that they invite their staff to submit expressions of interest for a secondment opportunity to undertake the role for an initial period of two years. Expressions of interest were received from a number of high quality candidates. Interviews were conducted in January. Stuart Ballingall, Manager Information & Data Services at VicRoads was selected for the role. Negotiations have now been finalised with VicRoads on the secondment arrangements. Stuart will commence in the position on 19 March. He will still be based in VicRoads. Management and reporting arrangements will include the Chair of the Cooperative ITS steering committee, the Network Program Manager and the Chief Executive of Austroads.

Stuart will attend the June meeting of the Austroads Board to outline and update the Board on the work being undertaken.
