Traffic Control and Coordination – Research,
Practice and Equipment
Time and Date: 4:30pm to 6:30pm, Wednesday 16th July 2014
Location: VicRoads Theatrette, 60 Denmark St, Kew
VicRoads has engaged the School of Mathematical Science, Monash University and Melbourne University to model traffic signal control and urban networks using Cellular Automata. The research tests different SCATS configuration including comparing varying cycle times in congested environments. Joyce Lele Zhang will discuss the findings.
The recent Victorian Auditor-General report, Managing Traffic Congestion (April 2013) stated that VicRoads systematically reviews the efficiency and effectiveness of its operational management of the road system. Trent Robinson will present on Route Reviews which have been completed in 2013/14, the changes and benefits in accordance to SmartRoads guidelines.
The next generation traffic signal controller (VC6) is currently being tested, Bob Lemon, Technical Marketing Manager, Aldridge Traffic Controllers will outline the capabilities of these controllers.
