Australian and international speakers added to the 2016 ITS World Congress program

There are now less than three months until the 23rd World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems, Melbourne, 10 -14 October 2016, and the program is shaping up to deliver above and beyond.

Following the recent confirmation of Jack Dangermond, Founder and President of global mapping technology company Esri as a Keynote plenary speaker, the Congress program has adding further expert insight from Australian and international industry professionals across an array of subjects.
One such recent speaker Matthew Cole, President of US based Cubic Transportation Systems.

Upon his appointment as a speaker, Mr Cole said “I’m looking forward to the World Congress to engage in the conversation about how we move the ball forward on the policies and partnering that will allow us to unlock the potential of the industry in the next 10 years.”
Cubic Transportation Systems is a leading integrator of payment and information technology and services for ITS travel solutions worldwide, famously known for its invention of the Oyster card system, since revolutionising transport through London, one of the world’s busiest cities.

Mr Cole will share a stage in the Mobility as a Service Plenary session with Keynote speaker Jeroen Wiemar, Chief Executive Officer, Public Transport Victoria; Mr Xiaojing Wang, Chair, China ITS Industry Alliance; Richard Harris, Director Communications and Marketing Transportation and Government International Public Sector, Xerox UK and Martin Matthews, Secretary for Transport and Chief Executive, Ministry of Transport, New Zealand. ITS Australia launches University competition to find future intelligent transport systems leaders

ITS Australia has launched its first ever university competition to encourage Australian graduates to submit solutions for next generation intelligent transport systems (ITS). The lucky winners will be given the opportunity to attend the ITS World Congress 2016 – an event that brings the world’s leading ITS professionals together in Australia for the first time in over 15 years.
ITS Australia, the nation’s peak ITS industry body, is committed to supporting and recognising up and coming talent and future leaders and the university competition is an opportunity for students with a passion for intelligent transport systems to promote themselves, their university and their work.

ITS Australia invites university students to submit a 2,000 word essay, with optional video, for their chance to win complimentary entry to the five day event, along with $500 towards flights and accommodation. Registrations now open for 2016 World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems in Melbourne

Now is the time to book your place at the 23rd World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

The five-day annual Congress will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10-14 October 2016.

Proudly hosted by ITS Australia, on behalf of ITS Asia Pacific, ERTICO and ITS America, the World Congress is themed ITS – Enhancing Liveable Cities and Communities.

More than 7,000 delegates from more than 60 countries are expected to attend, among them will be Australian and international ITS professionals, government and major city representatives, industry and business leaders, and university and school students.

The Congress will include Plenary and keynote speakers, special interest sessions and more than 300 exhibitors.

Attendees will also be able to experience demonstrations and go on behind-the-scenes technical tours to the Port of Melbourne, the largest container port in the Southern Hemisphere, Melbourne Airport and traffic management centres for the city’s road, rail and tram network.

Lord Mayor of Melbourne Robert Doyle said the world’s most liveable city has a strong reputation for welcoming conference delegates.

“Melbourne is the ideal city to host the 2016 ITS Congress as we are home to commerce, education, health, sport, cultural and residential areas which can all be accessed by foot, on bike, via public transport or in vehicles,” the Lord Mayor said. READ MORE
