Connected and automated vehicles have a significant role to play in the development of smart cities.
There are already vehicles on Australian roads that can undertake a limited form of self-driving and vehicles are increasingly becoming connected, with huge volumes of data being generated on-board and through road infrastructure. Such advancements are expected to play a critical role in safety and congestion, enabling smarter, cleaner transport.
The growing international focus on smart cities where transport, utilities and healthcare communicate with each other to allow coordination and reduce waste, is a key driver for the provision of intelligent infrastructure across the road network. Such initiatives are being actively pursued by local government across South East Queensland to enhance the quality and efficiency of services.
In recognition of these opportunities, ITS Australia in partnership with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads are hosting the Connected Autonomy in Smart Cities summit.
Domestic and international speakers from government, industry and academia will be present. Delegates will be able to discuss co-operative and automated vehicles opportunities and challenges. This event sets the scene for the Department’s co-operative and automated vehicle pilot.
This 1.5 day conference will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear the latest developments in emerging ITS technology from Queensland, around Australia and overseas. Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to strengthen your organisation’s position within this developing industry, to be seen, to network, to share ideas and make important new business partnerships.
ITS Summit attendees are invited to attend the NeTC 2016 (National electronic Tolling Conference) Welcome Reception cocktail function that will be held on Tuesday 24 May 2016. Also hosted by ITS Australia and held at nearby Stamford Plaza Hotel, the Q-Free sponsored Welcome Reception will be a further opportunity to extend your networking with ITS tolling industry professionals. Tickets can be purchased via the ITS Summit registration form.
