Technical Tours

Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem (AIMES)

Date: Thursday 29 August 2019
Time: 3.00pm – 5.00pm

Hosted by

The University of Melbourne

Attendees will be taken to Carlton to see AIMES – a world-first transport technology ecosystem based on the streets of Melbourne. AIMES was established to test highly integrated transport technology with a goal to deliver safer, cleaner and more sustainable urban transport outcomes. Hear from the AIMES team about what’s connected in AIMES from road users to devices and infrastructure. See demonstrations from technology partners including Cisco and Cohda Wireless of the latest projects including using artificial intelligence to profile intersections to identify behaviours that lead to dangerous situations for road users and a MaaS showcase with our automated shuttle.

This is an outdoors walking tour, comfortable shoes required.

3.00pm: Bus depart Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf MAP
5.00pm: Bus return to MCEC (return time is approx)

Places limited – pre-bookings required via the Registration Form.

West Gate Tunnel Project Information Centre

Date: Thursday 29 August 2019
Time: 3.00pm – 5.15pm

Hosted by

Transurban

Visit the West Gate Tunnel Project Info Centre, where you might even catch a glimpse of the largest tunnel boring machines (TBMs) in the southern hemisphere! The TBMs are being assembled to construct the West Gate Tunnel, a fully managed motorway utilising a range of ITS systems and equipment that will provide a vital second river crossing for Melburnians. Attendees to the Info Centre visit can check out a scale model of a TBM, a fully interactive 3D model of the entire project design, and even take a ‘virtual ride’ on the project’s new elevated cycling track – the ‘veloway’.

3.00pm: Bus depart Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf MAP
5.15pm: Bus return to MCEC (return time is approx)

Places limited – pre-bookings required via the Registration Form.
