Sydney Harbour Bridge: Lane Control System

Date: Wednesday 29 August 2018
Time: 3.00pm – 5.00pm

This tour will comprise of an elevated view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge lane control system, which was developed jointly between Roads and Maritime Services ITS Branch and SAGE Automation. The technology to be viewed includes lane use signals, variable speed limit signs and movable medians and 6 million rivets on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The tour will include climbing the South Eastern Pylon of Sydney Harbour Bridge to view the lane control system. Picture above (RHS) shows view from the tour.

Mobility: Due to stair only access, the tour will not be suitable for those with mobility constraints.

Participants: 40 max

Sydney Airport: Landside Operations Centre

Sydney Airport: Landside Operations Tour

Sydney Airport Landside Operations Centre (LOC) was opened in 2017 to integrate and improve the airport’s ability to monitor and manage the landside transport and operations across both terminal precincts. This tour would provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about the LOC’s journey so far, see the current integrated facility and understand Sydney Airport’s ambitions to further enhance and broaden the LOC’s capabilities. Please note: Sydney Airport’s Landside Operations Centre is a controlled, secure environment. Access to the LOC is only permitted when accompanied by an authorised Sydney Airport representative and no photographs or videos are to be taken by any attendees during the tour.

Sydney Transport Management Centre and Data61: Cyber Security, Blockchain, Machine Learning, Intelligent Mobility (Combined Tour)

The Transport Management Centre (TMC) operates 24/7 and exists to lead planning and coordination for the proactive real-time management of the transport network enabling seamless, safe and reliable journeys for customers. The TMC takes a multi-modal approach to incident management working with public transport and freight operators, NSW Police and emergency service providers to keep the state’s transport network moving. To optimise the use of the 18,000 km of state roads and transport services the TMC utilises innovative and intelligent smart city technologies. At the TMC you will see the digital resources, systems and processes used to manage around 600 planned and unplanned incidents on the network daily. Also included will be a presentation on a number of systems used by the TMC, such as PTIPS (Public Transport Information and Priority), ROAM+OPLINC (Road Occupancy Assessment and Licencing Systems) and SHIMS/Transportal (Spatial Search and Situational Awareness).
