Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP – Deputy Premier of Tasmania, Minister for Education and Training, Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries
Jeremy is a North-West Tasmanian who grew up on the family farm at Sassafras.
After matriculating in 1987 Jeremy then went to work on a cattle and sheep property near Hagley in Northern Tasmania.
Following a two-year period at Lincoln University in New Zealand, Jeremy received a Diploma in Farm Management and returned to Tasmania to manage his family’s property at Sassafras, which specialises in mixed cropping and prime lamb production. In 2016 Jeremy received the Lincoln Alumni International Medal.
Apart from his passion for farming and rural life, Jeremy has a strong empathy with public and community services and has worked with a number of organisations including Lifeline North West, Natural Resource Management, Landcare groups and Youth and Family Focus.
In 2006 Jeremy was awarded Life Membership of Lifeline North West.
Jeremy campaigned successfully in July 2002 to become an MP for Braddon in the House of Assembly and up until 2014 held a number of shadow portfolios.
In 2014 under the newly elected Liberal Government Jeremy was appointed as Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Training, Minister for Primary Industries and Water and Minister for Racing.
Jeremy is currently Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Training, Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries.
Jeremy is married to Sandra and they have three young daughters Ruby, Lucy and Holly.
Erin Jackson – Service Line Leader Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning, GHD
Erin has 13 years’ experience in the fields of traffic engineering, transport planning and project management and has a Masters degree in Traffic Engineering through Monash University.
Erin is GHD’s Service Line Leader for the Traffic and Transportation business throughout Australia and Asia Pacific. It is within this role that Erin is able to draw upon key skills within the business from GHD’s transport planning, advisory, intelligent transport systems, systems engineering and network operation and optimisation teams to bring smart transport solutions to clients.
Erin is passionate about making the most of our transport networks, but also understands that transport networks are complex, and as such must be considered holistically using systematic thinking.
Ramy Gokal – Manager Traffic Operations, Department of State Growth
Working within the Department of State Growth, Ramy is responsible for the Traffic Operations Section, the Traffic Management Centre and Intelligent Transport Systems. He is highly passionate about ITS and has a long-standing career of more than 34 years with traffic signals and ITS.
Ramy previously worked for the EThekwini Transport Authority in South Africa, then held an ITS management role with Transport and Main Roads for the design and delivery of the flagship ITS project in Far North Queensland – The Cairns Transit Network.
Ramy is a Member of The South African Institute of Electrical Engineers and is part of several Austroads ITS working groups. Throughout his career he has undertaken extensive international and local research on emerging technologies, working closely with Transport for London, City of Coventry and the RTA for ITS specifications development.
