Over 120 National Electronic Tolling Committee (NeTC) Members, ITS Australia Members and their guests participated in the 3rd NeTC Industry Forum from 21st to 23rd April 2008 at the Melbourne Convention Centre.

The program showcased 24 national and international speakers.  Presentations focused on how Australia has approached the challenges of tolling and ITS and address the current issues relevant to the tolling and ITS industry.

Planning for the 2009 event is underway.  We have been approached by the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association.  The IBTTA are planning to hold one of their annual Technical Workshops in Australia in early 2009.  We are still in preliminary discussions at the moment, but it is possible that next years NeTC Industry Forum will be organised in conjunction with or combined with the IBTTA Technical Workshop.  At this stage, the event(s) could be held in late March 2009 in Darling Harbour, Sydney.  More information will be available in coming months.  We welcome nominations for the NeTC Industry Forum Organising Committee.

ITS for Railway Level Crossing Safety Workshop was hailed as a huge success.

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Australia, in conjunction with the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), hosted a one-day workshop, bringing together the Rail, ITS and Road industries.   The event was held on Friday 29th February 2008 at the National ITS Centre, Port Melbourne.

The Workshop explored how emerging transport technologies could improve safety at level crossings.
